We apply the standard Dutch VAT rules when you pay for your stay:

As of 1 January 2026, VAT in the Netherlands increased from 9% to 21% on short-stay accommodation.
When you book accommodation the Netherlands, you usually need to pay tourist tax. This is a tax that a municipality can levy to help pay for facilities that a tourist enjoys during their visit.
Why do you have to pay this? When there are a lot of tourists staying in a city they also use a lot of resources, like street-cleaning or maintenance of roads. MuniÂcipalities are able to help pay for these costs via tourist tax.
The tourist tax is often different in each town or city. That's why some of our hostels have a higher tax than others. The rates below are per person per night, unless stated otherwise.
